This year's speakers include:
Kathy Eich, Red Root Mountain
"History and Uses of Mediterranean Herbs"
The texture, scent and aesthetic of the Mediterranean dwells in its plants.
When we invite them into our gardens, we infuse our space with the energy of those far off exotic sandy and rocky landscapes. In her presentation, Kathy Eich will illustrate how we can benefit from the Mediterranean plants thyme, sage, oregano and marjoram. She will touch on history, namesake, and how they can add value and warmth to our medicine cabinets.
Jill Yeck, Harvest Moon Herb Farm
"Herbal Cosmetics and Gifts"
Herbal cosmetics make great gifts or are just fun for pampering yourself.
In this presentation, you will learn how to make a deliciously sweet face scrub, a healing skin balm, an herbal hair rinse, and relaxing bath salts. Herbs from your garden and simple ingredients from your kitchen are used to create these enjoyable products.
We will discuss which herbs are beneficial to your skin and hair.
Laurie Lee, Herb 'n Gardener
"Mediterranean Herbs in Cooking"
Transform your favorite recipes from ordinary to extraordinary by learning to cook with Mediterranean herbs. The casual, flavorful Mediterranean style of cooking is uncomplicated and its rules are few: the freshest of ingredients and the profuse use of herbs.
Because Mediterranean cooking is generally simple, the herbs that grow so readily in the region play an important role in flavoring. Each herb is singularly important because the flavors complement the food and makes the meal soar.

How it All Began
In 1983 the Madison Herb Society sponsored the first Herb Fair at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in order to educate the public about herbs and raise money to further the activities of the organization. The Annual Herb Fair continues its tradition of offering members of the Society and the general public an opportunity to learn about the culture and use of herbs. Each year the addition of new events broaden the scope of learning experiences for all who attend. Enjoy a fun-filled, day-long fair with herb demonstrations, herbal food, and the sale of a wide variety of herb products from cookbooks to wreaths.
Please give back to the Herb Society by working on the day of the fair and bringing a donation to sell at the booth.
