Membership Benefits
- Presentations or activities after monthly business meetings cover extensive herbal related topics. Monthly meetings are typically held September through May at Olbrich Gardens.
- Potlucks are held throughout the year to share herbal recipes, including organized gourmet dinners, the holiday potluck and spring tea.
- Education cover herbal subjects such as cooking, growing, history, medicinal, craft and home uses. Ad hoc study groups allow for in-depth learning of select herbs over the year.
- Volunteer opportunities include working with Olbrich’s herb garden and other public spaces, as well as events such as Herb Fair and Garden Expo.
- Summers often include an overnight adventure and a member’s garden tour.
- Friendships and support of other like-minded individuals.
Three to four issues of printed Newsletters have a variety of seasonal and relevant articles on issues and events relating to herbs. The articles cover the growing, defining and using of herbs (culinary, medicinal, crafts, etc.). In addition, there is the Cook's Corner, book reviews, the calendar of events and information relating to the organization as a whole.
An emailed "News in Brief" is yet one more way to keep up with the Madison Herb Society activities and announcements in addition to the monthly meetings and seasonal newsletters. Members without e-mail access will receive notification by mail or phone.
Any member with an herb related business may request to have their business added to the Madison Herb Society’s “Links” web page. Please contact the Communications Director at communication@madisonherbsociety.org to make arrangements.
